Raised by University Art Professors, Yoyo had grown tired of being censored by the Chinese government on what stories she could tell. As a LA based filmmaker since 2013, the experience of being a Director and DP of documentary films had a very profound affect on her vision as a storyteller.

Through her award-winning documentary, Under the Same Sky, she observed how class and regional lines collide to debunk the Chinese propaganda about equality. Under the Same Sky has been shown and awarded at Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, Cannes Short Film Corner, Las Vegas Film Festival, Long Beach Indie International Film Festival and 6 other film festivals world-wide.

Her documentaries have taken hundreds of audiences from the U.S to places they’ve never been, to expose a side of China that doesn’t ever get shown. However, that was just one story out of dozens she will continue  to tell.
